Wordpress Ideas

Currently, there is 1 comment related to this post.

Wordpress has released a catchy little webapp to all users to vote on what all users would like to see in the next major release of Wordpress (Wordpress 2.2) that should be coming out around April of 2007. This one of the most awesome things I have seen; not the webapp, but the idea. The idea behind this is, all users create/request features and then vote on them. Based on the results, the Wordpress developers will code the most popular features into the next major release of Wordpress.

Most software developers don’t actually let their user-base vote on things such as this, but this is, after all, open source. Just goes to show how awesome open source community is. I have personally requested a features that will disable/re-enable plug-ins so that you can disable or re-enable plug-ins with a click of the mouse; good for debugging and upgrades.

I have seen some other requests that should be included and one of my favorites being a “test then live” type of feature. This would allow one to make changes to the site in a non-production way, then preview it. Once the preview has been completed and it looks good, then you can push your changes live. That would really make my life a whole lot easier (haha).

If you would like to vote my request, you can by clicking here.

Discussion always soothes thy heart.
